I'm having trouble with the cold water inlet on my hot water tank leaking, the coupling going into the tank has damaged threads, and the PEX connection no washer. I'm on the road on Memorial day, so I'll find those as I can.
My question is that I can see a plastic surface inside the tank connection where the coupler screws in, should there be an o-ring/washer there for the coupling to mate up to or is teflon tape on the coupler enough? Someone had worked on this before (missing PEX washer and other marks) so I'm not sure if something else was left out or not. I'll look for a drawing, no luck yet.
Thanks for any help.......
