eddugo's solution to carrying his bikes is nicely done. Just be aware you will have to remove the bikes and rack before you can open your slide. Normally that is not a big deal - unless you are making several one-night stops when traveling to your destination.

The curve is just the way that bike rack was made by the factory , it works well when it is in the rear or when installed in the prius. gives it enough lift to keep from bottoming out all the time. The bikes in front is OK , I think I might lower the handlebars , as that is not a lot of trouble either and would not look so tall.
