Directions to the factory?
Does anyone have specific directions to the Trail Manor factory? I understand it can difficult to find, and that your GPS won't take you there.
I have the address from the TrailManor website (24221 412th Ave, Artesian, SD), but Google Maps, etc, doesn't seem to show anything in the area that might be a factory. Perhaps I am just missing it.
Any help appreciated.
Bill
EDIT - please scroll all the way down to post 17 for directions that avoid a long stretch of dirt road, and out of downtown Mitchell.

Bill,
I could be wrong, so I recommend calling the factory to confirm. However, I think that if you Google "trailmanor factory, sd," the map that comes up on the right shows the map of the factory, which appears to be on the south side of Mitchell, off of route 11. Also, I think this is correct, because it is by OES Industries, which is where I think they get their aluminum.

We're actually going to South Dakota this summer for a vacation (cabin rentals, though...not with the TM). Since we may go through Mitchell, we are thinking about an excursion to the factory just for fun, which is why I had been looking at the map. If you gain better insight on their location, please share.
John

Also, I am presuming the address you have, which is listed as the address for the "headquarters," (not factory) is the address of property associated with the owners/Hutterite community.
Anyway, happy searching.

Lori's Youtube doesn't really tell you how, but it may give you an idea.

If you click on the Google Satellite map you see what is probably the colony and a factory building.

From Mitchell, SD head north on Rt 37, turn right to head east on 243rd St (dirt road), down the hill into a gorgeous valley, across the bridge over the James River, back up the hill out of the valley, then turn left to head north on 412th Ave (dirt road). You’ll see the colony's silos from the corner of 243rd and 412th. There is a big TrailManor Industries sign with the orange and brown logo on (I think) the left hand side of the road.

John-
Nope Bill has the correct factory address... The Google image you showed is the headquarters, not the factory. The headquarters address is 42021 268th St, Parkston, SD 57366. Note the factory and the headquarters are ~45miles apart, and about an hours drive over a lot of dirt roads.

Shane, I Googled "Hutterite" in the area and clicked on each Colony in turn and compared the buildings and terrain to Lori's video. I found this (put the coordinates into a Google Map search 43.8770948,-97.9757433 ). The silos matched the ones in Lori's video perfectly, and then I saw your directions.
Shane, you win!

A couple notes to anyone looking to make this journey...
Call ahead and make sure the roads are passable! Apparently that valley I mentioned was underwater for a couple years because the river was flooded. There is another way in but its a LOT more travel on dirt roads.
When we went in November, the roads weren't dirt so much as thick, sticky mud. So if you're towing with a minivan or something similar, this may also be a concern. We got into a couple sticky spots with a 4x4 Ram and all terrain tires while towing. Not to mention the truck and trailer were COVERED in mud!
The factory reminds me of Isla de Muerta in Pirates of the Caribbean; a place that cannot be found except by those who already know where it is.
Having said all that I would highly recommend the folks at TrailManor for service or just a visit to see how your camper was made! The factory is fascinating, Jacob was awesome to talk to. I'm hoping when we go back to pick up our TM (hopefully late May) the factory will be more "alive". It was late afternoon Friday when we went in November. Most everyone had called it a day. Still neat to see the campers in various stages of assembly.
