1\2 Gal. an hour under full load isn't bad. 1\4 gal per hour at partial load. It is heavy as I'm sure the price is also.

That is a nice unit for someone dry camping a lot. But isn't dry camping supposed to be roughing it? Who needs A\C when roughing it?

Also 64-73 db depending on load and big. How would you carry it ? I chose mine because
1) I can lift it
2) Seems quiet
3) Fits in the rear compartment next to the battery

"Quiet enough to meet National Park Service guidelines for campground use" Don't know what this means, other then subjective about noise level and hours of use and having a USFS spark arresting system on the muffler the Park service doesn't have much in the way of guide lines.

If anyone is really interested, see here. It is rather old. Another good source is here. However there are no US regulations.

I hosted in Bryce Canyon (4 years ago) with a couple who had also hosted at Shenandoah NP. They told me that SNP had a restriction on how loud a generator could be. They were issued a db monitor to determine if one was too load. They had to stand a certain number of feet from the generator, aim the monitor at it, and they would get a reading.

I can do that with my cell phone. Can also dial in any correction factor I want. EU2000 is known to be quiet. My 2500 Pred is not noticably louder when running the ac. Have both.

Interesting about Shenandoah NP, the last time we were there they didn't even say anything to the ones that ran their gen sets all night. That was in 2009 and I'm sure it has changed. All the NP and USFS CG we have been in the last couple of years just say "excessive" on the information boards. The forest service back in 2005 was talking about getting sound meters to check noise levels on ATV's and dirt bikes and the distance was going to be 50 or 60 feet, but don't know what ever happened to that.
When we were at Cottonwood in Big Bend it was generator free and the host were right on top of that. The rules even said no running of the tow vehicle to charge batteries. First time we had seen that one. Part of the problem is weather you use DB or dBA, a change of 3 dBA is twice as loud and that is what the average person can hear. When I was in engineering school dBA was the standard for noise measurement back in the 80's. DB wasn't considered sensitive enough for small changes.
