Default Electric/Gas Water Heater

I see where the new TM models have an electric/gas water heater. I am interested in the older TM models. When did TM switch from all gas to electric/gas?

I have a TM brochure dated November 2000 that lists an automatic ignition gas water heater as standard equipment, and an automatic ignition gas/electric water heater as being available equipment.

I also have a TM brochure dated December 2002 that lists an automatic ignition gas/electric water heater as standard equipment.

Thank you rtcassel for the information.

On another note, has anyone installed a Hott Rod in a gas only water heater? If so, where did you tie-in to an electrical line.

Just a thought:

No experience here with it -- but i would think that to install this device would require removal of the anode rod which would then subject the tank to possible earlier failure.

Tim

Edit: I guess I should add: (anode rod if required)

Default tankless hot water

Since we dry camp mostly we are looking into tankless hot water heaters.
We are looking at the EZ101 or the Ecotemp L5. There is a thread about this mod in forums.

BeachBoy -

A lot of questions like this are best answered by going directly to the manufacturer's web site and looking it up. If you so desire, you have the opportunity to learn a lot by perusing the manual for your appliance. You probably have (will have, I know) a Suburban unit, so start at their web site. I know the HottRodd is discussed there.
www.rvcomfort.com

And you can see old TM literature at the wayback machine, to discover when TM began to use a different model.

We do not have an electric element in our water heater, and our TM is a 2000.
