Travel with toilet charged
Is there any problems with traveling with the toilet charged. We will be leaving next week for the North West. Our old popup had a cassette toilet
and had the flush water separate from the black water and did not have to
be dumped each morning. As I understand the Thetford Toilet recirculates
the fluid and from what I can tell from the parts breakdown there is nothing
to keep the fluid from splashing out from road vibration.
Going from a popup to the Trailmanor is going to be quite interesting.
Already have had the lift kit installed, fabricated a rack to carry the blue
tote over the battery, installed a couple of 12v outlets for bunk fans and
a vac. I guess a lot of my questions will be answered as we shake down
cruise to Glacier.

I agree with this line of thinking. I always charge in advance if I am going to be dry camping. Why waste 3 gal of your fresh water by using it to charge the toilet? I also use saran wrap over the bowl to prevent spills on the way to a dump station. Works fine.

Question, blush, the term "charge" the toilet as far as I know means putting in 3 gal of water and adding the chemicals. Is there more to the word 'charge' I am missing?

Charge away
As chronic dry-campers, we also start off with the toilet charged and have driven thousands of miles that way without incident, no matter how much fluid was in the toilet.
Now if you pull the dump valve and then drive hundreds of miles to the dump station, that may be another story. That's what we were doing when the EZ-Slider gasket failed, but it's hard to say if the gasket failed for some other reason and driving with the valve open just called it to our attention or if the sloshing pushed the gasket out of place. At any rate, now we do not pull the dump valve unless we are certain that we will be at the dump station within 10 miles or so. If not, we use a blue boy.

As a rule we do not charge the toilet until we arrive at our destination. However, for extended travel the toilet is charged before we leave. Guess we have been lucky, never had a problem traveling with the toilet charged.

We normally only do this if we've overnighted and then moved on somewhere, because it wouldn't be worth dumping. We've never had a problem. I try not to do it for long pulls just because the toilet is aft of the axle.

I went from Corpus Christi, Texas to Indiana with a charged toilet. No spills, no problem. I was never on terribly bumpy roads but certainly went over a few speed bumps along the way.
