Default No AM radio....

I'd like to know if anyone has figured out a way to get the AM portion of my radio to work. I know it's a antenna issue, but see no way to get one to the outside of the Elk. I need to look into it more I guess, just curious if anyone else has fixed it.....

Our Elk radio/cd player died after about a year. Went to Amazon and they wanted too much to replace it, and the reviews were almost 100% negative.

So ripped it out, modified the hole slightly, made a wooden box and put in a much cheaper, Sony, regular car radio. It sticks out a bit but but has a usb port for our music, and serves as a little shelf for keys and junk.

Hmmm, but to your original question, don't think we ever tried AM on either one! But FM works!

When looking for anything regarding a 12 volt radio, start with Crutchfield.

I thought the "car radio" that was in the 2619, sounded much better than the thing that comes with the Elk. May be a project for next year. That will be easier to get an AM antenna outside of the metal shell.

Thanks for the replies...

Try this radio in your TM. 50's model Crosley AM radio. Works well. Plug it in and wait for it to warm up and get all the local AM stations. Been in my family for decades.

My 2005 TM 2720 cam with no radio. It was wired and there was a blank slot.

I had a CD/FM/AM radio collecting dust in the garage so I installed it. That took about an hour.

I have no complaints. I only play CDs, because where we camp thee is no radio reception.
