Question 5k axle bearing size?

Can anyone confirm the correct size bearings and brakes for the larger (5k) axle? I have a 2008 3023 that I believe has the 5k axle, although I haven't checked by looking under the trailer. It has 15" tires with 6 bolts.

I'm planning to replace the brakes with the nev-r-adjust version for self-adjusting, and replace the bearings at the same time. The trailer has around 50k miles, and I'm expecting that the bearings will need to be replaced. I think there's only been grease replaced via ez-lube, but not a full bearing check. I'm expecting to find some bearing wear. The hubs were warmer than felt comfortable, but it was the first trip I had been checking the hubs so I don't yet have a good reference point.

Looking over the etrailer site and the dexter replacement parts chart I found on some other messages, I believe this would be the correct parts:

- 6 on 5 1/2” for the hub assembly (for drum 12” x 2”)
- bearings - inner 25580, outer 15123
- 12” x 2” for 6k axles (brakes)

Information or other thoughts?

The six bolt wheels pretty much say it is the 11 axle and not the 10 (though 6x5.5 was an option on the 10, I don't think the 12" brakes were available on the 10). That said there should be a plate on the axle confirming the size.

Why not go to the Dexter Axle web site and check it out? Second-hand information ("Does anybody know ... ?" ) is always subject to errors, while info direct from the source is almost sure to be right.

Just my thought.

Good points all. I prefer to get the information from the proper source as well. I mostly needed to confirming the size of the axle, which I will do on the camper this weekend.

Thanks for the links to what looks like the correct information.

Two more questions based on looking at those links:
- Any experience with the nev-r-lube feature?
- Any experience with the nev-r-adjust brakes?

Are these just gimmicks or are they worth the time/$$'s? I appreciate your opinions as I have limited experience with these items.

Well, I'm closer, but not all the way there apparently. I pulled the trailer out of storage to inspect the brakes, hubs, and bearings. It looks like the brakes do need to be replaced. I couldn't tell the shape of the bearings for sure, but the outer bearing on both sides show some minor heat stress, so I'm planning to replace the bearings as well.

I thought I took enough pictures and measurements to know what to order, but it looks like I missed at least one. My fault for not checking the dexter web site before putting everything back together.

The sticker on the axle is no longer legible, so no help there. The hubs have a 8-201 stamp, and from the brake parts, I can confirm they are a 12" x 2" size. However, I'm caught between two different sets of bearings and seal sizes, both on the dexter site and the trailmanor documentation. It's either a 2.125 or 2.25 seal set. Even thought the dexter size only shows a 2.25" seal (010-036-00) on the reference documents, there are two different replacement bearing kits with either size when you search for replacement bearings.

The outer bearing is either a (cone) LM67048 for a 5.2k axle or a 15123 for a 6k axle. Both bearings match the size of the bearing I looked at. I couldn't see any part numbers on the bearing I inspected.

Unless someone has another suggestion, I believe I'm going to have to pull the hubs off again to get the seal diameter to know what size of seals and bearings I'm dealing with.

Just be glad you have an axle rated for the trailer and not a 4k TM and a 3.5k axle.
