Getting mixed information on mattress size...
I’m “buying” a 3124, the owner is telling me I absolutely have to have a 76” sq mattress of 4” thickness, which doesn’t seem to exist. So can I just buy the 6” foam king size mattress I found on Amazon or not? (I’ll also start reading/searching through the forum, but I’m new to that to so...)
I’m actually being gifted the RV sight unseen, but am told I need a mattress and tires immediately...so I’m bringing those with me from Illinois...RV is in Florida...
Thanks for any advice/help,
C

It is quite possible that a 6-inch thick mattress will be so thick that the rear shell won't close. That would be an expensive problem if you just bought a new 6-inch mattress. Presumably the bed already has a 4-inch mattress on it. If you are squeamish about sleeping on a "used" mattress, why not buy a zip-up waterproof mattress bag or cover? That way, when you take possession of the camper, you could measure and buy something that is guaranteed to fit later.

Thanks, but...
Great suggestion, I guess I didn’t make it clear that there’s currently no mattress in the RV. Otherwise, I would just cover it as suggested...
My main concern was the 76” square, that’s not the dimensions of a king mattress... and I can’t seem to even find a Trailmanor mattress for sale to see what its dimensions are...
I’m probably just not searching in the correct places...

RV mattresses rarely, if ever, match the standard sizes we are used to at home. In fact they aren’t even standard amongst the RV industry... I can tell you that for as long as I’ve followed TM, their king bed has always been listed as 78”x78”. And I can also tell you my mattress is 4” deep.
As for not closing, the general consensus has been you can put a 1.5”-2” Topper on the mattress and still close the camper. But I don’t know that I’d spend the big bucks on a 6” mattress. With a topper you can always roll it up and stash it if needed. Can’t really do that with a mattress. Another option that some have had success with is an air mattress and electric pump. If it’s too tall to close, just deflate it.

Thanks!
I figured the owner was off and did just find the picture that showed me the 78x78. The 6” mattress is only $189 on Amazon, so I think I’m going to chance it, but before I decide I’ll check out an air mattress, or maybe 2 twins side by side, or see if I can find a 5” mattress.
I found 4” twins, which side by side will fit and then there’d be a 3” gap, but I found cheap 4” twins. Gosh who knew the stupid mattress would be such a big deal...actually I’m probably in for a lot of surprises with this whole situation and being new to RVing. 😄
