Default Honda 2000s external fuel tank

We dry camp in the central California summer heat at least once a year. This requires extended runs of our pair of Honda 2000s for A/C comfort. Unfortunately it can be as short as 4 to 6 hours before refueling is required. With both gens set to ECO mode, one generator will always run faster than the other and run out of fuel while the other is still at least 1/3 full. Honda claims this is normal.

For the last trip I purchased an extended run external tank and it worked great. I was able to run from mid day until evening for two days and still had at least 1/3 remaining in external tank and both gens were full. Be sure to order the one for Honda generators with red caps. The caps are designed to fit snug and airtight in place of the factory fuel cap. This allows fuel to be drawn into the gen tank as it burns away without a pump or gravity assist. I set the external tank on the ground next to the generators. The external tank holds 6 gallons of fuel.
