Front and rear Awnings won't stay up

The little butterfly nuts or thumscrews will not tighten to hold my awings up. Is there a way to repair or replace them. My local dealer offered to replace the whole mechanism but that is very expensive.

The unit is a 2005 2720SL we have had for a year.
