Wayne et al -
Many of us (including me) have referred to "keeping the seals moist". I hate to admit my age, but is this possibly an anachronism, dating back to the days of cork or felt or fabric gaskets? Today, it seems that the seals are all plastic or plastic closed-cell foam, and I'm not sure that plastic cares if it is wet or not.
Just a thought out of the blue ...

Intended or not, this is a great pun.

Here is the link to the current Thetford recirculating toilet manual:
http://www.thetford.com/HOME/PARTS/P...6/Default.aspx
For storage, it says to completely empty the toilet, fill it up again, add their Thetford cleaner, let it stand for a while, and then empty it again.
So it sounds like they are recommending that the toilet be stored empty.

I'll occasionally add some of Thetford's "Seal Conditioner" to the empty tank and let it sit, closed up and in storage, until my next trip. I also let a little of the solution dribble through the toilet seal down to the clean out valve seal on the outside chance that this is a good thing...maybe Thetford is getting my money for nothing but I like to think this is delaying the dreaded "remove the toilet" adventure.
