Tire pressure
I use the Maxxis radial tires 2257515 load range E. I run them at 70 PSI and it tows much better than the Marathans at 65 PSI. They also don't look under inflated like the load rande D Marathons did. I just put 8 Maxxis tires on our Scout trailers. With the Marathons I put on last time, we blew out 6 of 8 tires.

Nancy, here is an explanation of the different number sizings. It is European, just like Arn said.

Thank you guys for all the info. I had two Titan 215/75R14s blow out on me this weekend. They were put on in March and had less than 3,000 miles on them. I was not a happy camper. I ordered 2 of the Kumhos from my local tire guy.

Nancy, be sure to read up on the valve stems and such. You will want to install metal valve stems with your new tires to be on the safe side (and not rubber ones, a lot of which have been recalled).

We have a 2001 Silverado with 16" wheels and 265/75R Michelin Tires. I have 3 extra wheels with Michelin tires and would love to put two on the trailer and one as the spare. Will these fit?

We switched to "Duro" Radials. Been happy so far. A lot of my friends have been using them for years with good success.

Several things. 16 " might be too big without modifying wheel well ( to keep tire from hitting) also spare will not fit stock carrier with out modifications. It is also not recommended to use standard vehicle tires on trailers as ST ( trailer tires) are constructed specifically for Trailers.

Are you talking about just the the wheels or tires and wheels? If tires, be careful because passenger tires are rated differently than trailer tires. There was a good article in this month's Trailer Life on trailer tires. I couldn't find it on line but it may show up later. If you subscribe, take a look at it.
As for fit, the key would be the lug bolt pattern and the size of the tire - if it would fit in the wheel well.
Maybe wmtire will chime in - our resident tire expert.

Couldn't locate The Great Tire Experiment, but this seems a likely place to post. Coming back from Meramec State Park Sunday, just after dark (natch), as I exited I72 I lost the entire tread off the driver's side Goodyear Marathon on my '05 TM2619. I suspect I may have run over something because the passenger side was way low and essentially flat the next morning - about 3 miles from the blowoff. The sensation from the blowoff was similar to running over a line of reflectors or a rumble strip - then smoother as soon as the tread separated. No handling problems at all but I was probably only doing 30 mph or so at the time. Both tires appeared fine when leaving Meramec, about 175 miles back, and when stopping for gas in Troy, IL, about 60 miles back. I was doing about 64 mph since crossing in to Illinois. No casualties to my knowledge except for the skirt and I think that a stainless fender washer will take care of that.
I've just purchased two Power King TOWMAX/STs in ST215/75R14 from the local Goodyear Dealer with metal stems, mounting and balancing for $172.91. He said they were "just as good" as the Marathons and they were considerably less expensive. He also talked me out of replacing the spare which looked good and obviously had been out of the sun - he said I should replace it in 8 or so years if unused. I'll post if I have any problems. - camp2canoe
