Yes, these so-called "absorption refrigerators" do take 24 hours to get fully cold. Three or four hours after starting it, you should be able to put your hand on the freezer floor and feel the beginnings of cold.

Quicker if you fill with stuff that is already cold. I have several blocks of "liquid ice" I keep in the freezer at home but a frozen 2 liter soda bottle of water works well also.

ps also is your striker working properly and holding the gas button in ? (will feel a distinct "pop" when the striker fires).

We keep in our deep freeze about 10 12-16 oz bottles of water. They work nice to add to a cooler of the fridge and serve two uses. To jump start the fridge or keep a cooler cool and to drink.

Yes, it takes 12 hours or more for the fridge to get really cold. Like others, putting some frozen items in helps "jump start" the process.

Well today since I off decided to check on the fridge issue. Pilot light lit with no problem - Hour later went out to check and could tell the freezer starting to get cold. The temp was about 86 in the fridge down to 76 in a couple of hours...

Now if I can figure out why the flame meter is not working.
