Default Extend a stay, or Stay a while, propane tee

Merry Christmas to all.
Has anyone put an extend a stay tee (also sold as a Stay a while) on a TM trailer with the horizontal bottles? We have a 3124KS, and I am mounting the tee just after Christmas. Wanted to see if anyone has done it before, how you mounted it to the frame, and whether you have had any issues with your location. Thanks.

What is the purpose of that thing? If I want to use an external bottle to fuel the TM, I would just put the bottle next to the tongue and screw one of the TM's propane pigtails to it. Done.

And if I wanted to use the TM gas bottle to fuel a stove or something, I'd just connect it directly to the tank.

I suppose it depends on how long of an extended stay you're talking about. If you were planning on camping with full hook ups for more than a month without moving, you might need a third tank, but why not just get an empty filled? Two 5 gallon tanks will last for many days, even if you're using your Suburban heater daily.

I carry a 15 ft. hose that adapts to my barbecue from my TM tank, so I don't have to carry a third tank. I don't see any reason for the T connection either.

When we had the Outback set up in MD for our daughter we just used a longer hose for connection to a 100# bottle. The CG she was at kept the 100# and both 30# full for her. Used a bit of propane with lows in the single digits for over a week. When we pulled the TT out they kept the 100# tank with a little refund for bottle and gas

Thanks for the good questions on the "why" do it. The 3124KS buries the bottles under the couch when on station, so access means breaking down the inside of that end of the TM so one can push in the pull out and get to the bottles. Sometimes we are in Kansas in the winter when we go through the odd bottle of propane rather quickly, so being able to set down a 20# vertical tank that is easily refilled or replaced would be much more convenient. The particular tee I have does also have the high pressure supply fitting to supply the barbie, so my placement of the tee also has to consider access to that port as well. Thanks for the input. Maybe this is a first time thing among TM owners.
Merry Christmas

That makes perfect sense, good luck with the installation.

I could see a larger tank for longer stays. But once you get somewhere over 40 lbs they have a different fitting.

We have Y connector fitting on my tank with one fitting a 1 lb. I connect a 12 foot 1lb to 1lb hose to use on my outside stove and small grill.

nwhouston,

During our extended winter stays in Bisbee, AZ I remove both tanks and set them on the ground, secured along side the a-frame. That way I can easily remove and refill each tank as needed without having to push in the slide. The pigtails for each tank are just long enough to reach both tanks when set on the ground.

I do the same.

If I were staying an extended time, I'd put the tanks on the ground (at least one) as mentioned above, for a quick refill while the other fed the line. After filling, I'd then switch back to the ground tank, so that was the one predominantly being used.

The extend-a-stay seems to allow for refilling the tank without removal, or using an external tank, but for our set-up it seems that just taking the tank off the tongue before pulling out the slide will accomplish the same thing.

That being said, I am obviously a fan of the fitting to go to the BBQ, as I use the same (mine doesn't have the 4th port).
