Default Replacing plastic trim?

Our New to us 1998 2720 has alot of cracked and broken trim, its the thin plastic 90 degree "L" along the top of bottom half main unit wall. Behind the sink, the bathroom and behind the wardrobe. I found a nice corner moulding at Lowes that is wood grain plastic but it is little thicker, I believe this is it. It is however very lightweight and looks much sturdier.

Has anyone replaced theirs and do you think it would cause any issued with sliding, the thing is maybe 1/8" thick at most, but the stuff that's there now is like paper. I can sit it on the ledge behind the slider unit and it LOOKS like there is plenty of room, but looks can be deceiving.

Thanks in advance
