Default Radio install help!!

I have done numerous searches on here about the subject and I am probably more confused than ever. I want to install a radio in my 3023, I am the second owner and as far as I know there was no radio installed, just the cover blocked the hole by the fridge. So I just picked up Kenwood stereo and want to install it, I removed the wood cover to reveal the wiring and this is what I found, there is a harness installed, is that an indicator that there was a radio or is that how Trailmanors are? Do I cut the harness off and connect it wire for wire with the harness supplied with the radio?

Sorry for the dumb questions, I never installed a radio myself, I don't think its hard, but I just want to make sure I do it the right way and not fry the camper or the radio.

Thanks for all the help! I will post a pic of the trailmanor wiring and of the new harness. Any help is appreciated!!

tfarrugia,

Your question is not dumb at all. The harness you found was left from the pervious owner. You can just cut off the old connector and start from scratch as you were planning on doing. Good luck with the installation.

Thanks Kidkraz, so I did the install, I followed it wire by wire, the radio powers on and all, but I am not getting any audio, actually when I put it on tuner I get a lot of static but no radio signals and when I check the fader and balance the static is in the right places. But any audio function I place it in has no actual audio, Bluetooth shows it is playing a song but I cannot hear it. I checked all the volumes and they are good on the phone and on the radio. Very confused???

When I installed my radio, I too had issues. Seems my left speaker wouldn't work; which caused me to get confused. Try just connecting up one speaker at a time. Several folks have discovered problems with a nail or screw thru a wire, which causes it to be shorted out.

I will give that a look at, I am going to get better connectors first and see if that is the issue, then trouble shoot from there.
Thanks!!
