Default Shower basin problem?

Am considering buying a 3024SK TM used from a reputable TM dealer and it looks great except for an obvious crack or hole in the shower basin. A repair was completed but not by the dealer. It is hard to determine the size of the "crack" because of the repair materials. We've been told that replacing the tub would be extremely expensive ($1500-$2000). Is it safe to purchase this camper and are shower basin cracks a common problem?

Cracks in the floor of the tub are not common by any means, but they have occurred. I would have no confidence in any simple repair, because the bottom of the tubs flexes when you put weight on it.

Several years ago, we had a thread on this topic, and one of the suggestions was to put some blocking under the floor of the tub so it can't flex. I don't know how it worked out, but I will try to find the thread and add a link here.

EDIT: http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?p=41081

By the way, how did you decide to post about the tub in the Getting Started on the Board forum, rather than in the Plumbing forum? As a Trial Member, you have access to both, but I am always concerned about the forum definitions that we provide.

Thanks for the link and the help with my concern. I posted in the wrong section because I didn't know what I was doing but wanted to get information because I am negotiating on the trailer this Saturday.

No problem. As I say, we try to include a short definition of the purpose of each forum, but sometimes it doesn't make sense to new members. If it needs to be changed, this is a good way to find out.

On first thought I too would be dubious about trying to repair a crack like u describe, however there are some amazing resin type compounds that are pliable, strong, and rather durable, so that type of repair may be possible depending on where the crack is.
Good luck.

Found out from the dealer that the former owners did go to the dealer and bought a kit to fix the crack. I thought they had just tried to fix using "whatever." It seems very strong and we are now the proud owners of a Trail Manor! Thanks for your help and suggestions.
