Recirculating Toilet

I am trying to find out how my recirculating toilet works. I have a 2000, 3023. Does anyone have a website that gives details. Thanks Jeff L

Welcome to the forum. Once you find out how your Electramagic toilet works and if you're not happy with it, no worries, there are other options for replacement.

Compared to the standard RV toilet. The toilet is not that bad if you only use it for number one. They are like the airplane toilet except there is no venting of air when you flush.

From a simple view, the toilet starts with about 3 gallons of water and keeps reusing that water to flush. The wast is added to that water. There is a screen that screens out large partials and paper so they are not recirculated. The chemicals manage the smell and helps break down the solids and maybe does some disinfecting.

We only use the toilet at night for number one, which is how the DW and I have used camper toilets for over 30 years. This stems back to when we first started camping with a standard RV toilet and after a few days and using it for all our needs it smelled when you would flush.

So that is why we limit our use and so far it's no issue for us. I would think if you use the toilet for all you needs in a day or so, it could start to smell like the airline toilet at the end of a long busy flight.

You need to use the right chemicals and RV toilet paper.

The TM does not have a black tank, if you weren't aware of that. The manual with tell you more about the capacity and how to empty. One option is to use an external holding tank anywhere from 5 gallons on up and dump at the camp site manually. Just a thought about options for longer trips and not wanting the same water in the toilet for any length of time. I have a small black tank to empty every couple days.

We use the toilet for all of our needs, and not had issues with smell or function. I know not everyone has the same experience.

I did two modifications to the toilet, one easy (remove the vinyl skirt) and one difficult (remake/reshape the screen for better functionality). In addition, we use Thetford Blue (8 oz. per charge) and occasionally use Happy camper. Flush King to clean after each excursion.

I don't think I'd be as happy with a stock unit, TBH.

There was mention of replacement with a unit for a Serro Scotty with a small tank under the bowl that would work well with a blue tank on the dump valve but the link did not work for me.

Is something similar available ? If I use as a guest room, do not want the guest having to use just for #1.

A Thetford "Curve" would be easier to dump than a "Blue Boy" tank at your home. I have found it easier to use when camping as well, when boondocking, I just put the tank in the back of my truck and take it to the nearest gas station or construction site porta-potty. Better than breaking the trailer down to go dump at a dump station.
