5 or 6 in works great. Just use a good silicon caulk on the rim of the deck ring. If your TM is several years old, I bet you will be surprised how much stuff is in the tank.

I drain and blow out the water lines, drain, flush and replace the hot water heater anode, (last year I) mounted an anti-freeze fill kit on the pump and a by-pass kit on the hot water heater...since I live where it is sub-zero for weeks (sometimes months) at a time. I also remove all shower heads (inside and out) and the kitchen sprayer head and leave the faucets open. I also place about 1/2 gallon to a gallon of anti-freeze and seal conditioner in the toilet and flush several (dozens) times to make sure the anti-freeze is in the lines and leave what ever anti- freeze runs out in the traps. I do however close the outside drains other wise the anti-freeze runs out. Last year I used about 4 gallons of anti-freeze in the TM, but I did not have any issues with cracked plumping. I know...I know it may be over kill...but nothing I hate more is fixing something I could have easily prevented in the first place

Redhawk, which of what? The hot water heater by-pass and anti-freeze fill kit I picked up at camping world, but I think they are available just about any where, I have even seen them at fleet/tractor stores. Not to hard to install, except the by-pass hose may take some trial and error to get right, I think i used a 18" hose (for faucets/toilets) from the home store to make the by-pass connection on the hot water heater. I have some caulking to do on it today and maybe get the anti-freeze in if I don't run out of time, so I will get the measurement of the by-pass I put in.

I'm sorry Ken, several posts snuck in there while I was typing, I was wondering which marine deck lid Rumbleweed recommends for the water tank....I like that idea.
