Default Dirty smell

Any one have ideas on how to get a dirty smell out of the camper ?
Not to offend but it smells like dirty old person. I have washed all walls and ceilings. Carpets have been cleaned as well as furniture. I have had vents open for a week for fresh sir also. I went out at noon today and that nasty smell slaps you the minute you open the door. The curtains are so dirty if you touch them dirt falls off. So I have no choice but to wash them too.
Anyone else bought a used TM with this kind of smell? If so how do you get rid of it.

I would clean the black (toilet) holding tank very well. Perhaps more importantly, I would clean the gray water holding tank That puppy can get really ripe if allowed to sit awhile. Also, make sure there is water in the sink traps in both the kitchen and bathroom.

It is still winterized. It is not that kind of smell. I cleaned the bathroom last night. Was on my hands and knees around the toilet and didn't smell anything there. Guess I will try a few more things and hopefully after we start using it the smell will leave.

If you wash the curtains, put the back up before they are totally dry and leave the TM open to let them dry. If they dry outside they will shrink and you will never get them to fit.

I had the same problem when we bought our used TM. It was the carpet. At some time there was a toilet leak, and all the dirty water and chemicals soaked into the carpet and dried. We stripped out all the carpet, and put in a laminate wood floor. What a difference that made! Now... I'm the only thing that smells in the TM!

Default Smells

I have allergies that prevent me from smelling anything but DW can.

Smells can also come from the drains. If weather permits pour a cup of water down each drain to fill the P-traps and block the smells from the tanks and discharge lines.

If you still fear a cold snap that might freeze and burst the P-traps, put in some RV anti-freeze or even diluted auto anti-freeze since it is just going down the drains.
