Default Ceiling Wiring Channel Cover Strip

Has anybody had a problem with the interior wiring channel cover strip, (located at the center line of the ceiling) staying in place? There are, I think, 4 strips of varying lengths mounted from front to back. One of the longer ones just does not stay in place, and regularly falls from the metal wiring channel. I re-attach it by gently tapping into place, but it will not stay attached for long.

Nick,

I had a similar issue with the longer channel cover about 2 years ago (in Hope, AR . . . on our way to AZ). During a heavy rain a little water entered along the main roof vent and traveled the length of the channel cover. It ended up dripping on the vinyl at the end of the living room slide. I removed the plastic channel cover to find the source of the leak. It was very difficult to get the cover back onto the channel . . . took several attempts to secure it as gravity wants to keep pulling it down. As I recall, there is a small lip on the plastic runner that will slip over the metal channel edges. The trick is to make sure the plastic lip is hooked over the metal channel edge. If you are not careful the plastic lip sits along side the metal strip and does not hook properly resulting in a temporary friction attachment. It took two pairs of hands and lots of patience to secure the plastic cover. So far it has remained in place. Check the lip on the plastic cover to make sure it is not bent or damaged.

I have a lot of troiuble with these strips coming down in Arizona. Ed at the TM factory suggests bonding the m down with a good quality silicon caulk which I did. So far so good. Mine back over the bed came undone in the middle and formed ripples. I had to heat it with a hair drier to straighten it out enough to stay in place.

Default Wiring Cover

The plastic cover for the central wiring in our TM has also been driving me nuts. I took care of it with 5 small screws into the ceiling.

By the way, a couple of questions:

1. How again do I create the little bio statement at the bottom of my posts?

2. What is the meqning of "&quot".

&quot is the html (web page) code for double quote mark. If the web browser encounters this, it should display " on the page.

As I recall from a post a couple of years ago, when the board was rehosted to a different ISP, some of the translation did happen quite the way it should have. This resulted in ampersand-quote becoming a string instead of the special character. It shows up mostly in older posts, as I recall. Don't quote me.

Wayne -

Exactly right. I correct these when I come across them, but there are thousands of instances. As Bill Miller suggests, just try to ignore them and read them as a quote mark or inch symbol.

And by the way, another common occurence is &nbsp, which is the imperfect translation for "non-breaking space". It occurs when the original poster put two spaces in a row. Many of us do this between sentences - we were taught that way - and now it looks like heck.
