Adding vent covers

Hi all,

It seems like this must be here somewhere but I'm not finding it by searching "vent cover" or "vent".

We're wanting to add a vent cover so we can keep a vent open when it is raining. It does rain in Colorado occasionally ;-)

We added them to all of our vents on our old Bounder but this is clearly a horse of a different color. Any words of wisdom will be appreciated!

I have vent covers on all my vents includig the fan - installed by a previous owner. I can't get to my TM right now, but if my memory serves me, they are standard MaxxAir vents for RVs. The one on the fan is a little larger than the other two. They appear to be easy to install and do, in fact, let you keep vents open when it rains. In addition, if you happen to forget to close a vent before closing the TM, it protects the vent lid from blowing in the breeze as you tow!
You should be able to find them at Camping World or any online RV supply place.

Thanks. We picked up one of those from Camping World on the way home from a trip and just quickly tried it on for size. It was not a good fit to put it mildly. I think the wooden base on the vent will have to be enlarged or something to make it work. We immediately knew it was more than we had experienced in the past and just returned it and figured someone here would give us guidance. You might want to send the previous owners of yours a thank you note ;-)

I have the Maxx-air translucent vents on all 3 vents. They have brackets that mount to the trailmanor vent and not to the wood frame. I leave the vents cranked open while the trailer is in storage and camping in Colorado. Close the vents when towing because it will allow dirt to suck in.

We have the MaxAir vents that were installed by a previous owner. We leave the vents open except when running the heat or air. Well sometimes we forget to close them and wonder why the air doesn't work as well as it used to work. They seem to work well and tend to prevent mildew when storing.

We also have the MaxxAir vent covers which are very easy to install. They work great but we have had a time or two when we had to close the vent off to prevent the rain from coming in because of the way the rain was falling. Although we normally do leave them open with no leakage.

I am wondering if the original vent installation is different for the larger models because the only thing showing on ours is the vertical box for the vent and the cap. None of the original mounting hardware is visable on ours. Maybe I need to post a photo. It sure seems that any vent cover we add will have to be attached to the wood around our vents.

I appreciate all the suggestions!

The MaxxAir covers acctually connect to the sides of the vent ring & you can see the bolts from the inside. Mine don't even touch the roof because of the raised wood under the vent. If it wasn't flooding here I would take some pics for you. Maybe this diagram will help though.
