Clip to hold entry door open?

I recently ordered the small clip that holds the door open. It does not line up with the old holes up as it is smaller. To make it work you have to line on the forward hole and pop the rear hold. I caulked the old ones. I guess this is not that important but I like to keep the holes to a minimum

I'm sorry to learn that the holes don't line up. You seem to have found the best solution - plugging the old hole with caulk and setting a new one - but I agree with not wanting extra holes.

I've seen two different sizes of those clips, I'm thinking you must have located the smaller one? I ordered a pair for the access hatches to keep them open, but didn't bother to measure them against the existing one for compatibility.

If anyone is still looking, I can try to hunt down where I saw the two kinds; I'm fairly certain the larger one would be the direct replacement for what we have now.
