Default skidaway island sp savannah ga

this is a nice sp we stayed in a couple weeks back , skidaway island sp. is about 15 min. outside of savannah ga. under 30 min off I-95
all sites a pull through off each side of roads, and kinda neat is you can park either way, door to street or back to street ,no one-way drives.
bathhouse in loop 3&4 is new, the others are older but clean. lots of walking and biking trails in the park.
all the sites have power, water, cable, and some have sewer . lots of room between sites , had a grt time weather was good, will go back again, well worth the 400. mile run

I Agree, Skidaway is an excellent park, we have stayed there several times in our pop-up. In general, all of the GA state parks rank among the nicest in the southeast.

Another nice and historical state park campground a few miles south of Savannah is Fort McAllister. Both of the above have good access to public salt water fishing piers and bridges, if that interests you.

One caution about Fort McAllister, though is all the raccoons after dark. Don't leave food outside, they will invade your site in masses, even with you sitting right there by the fire.

Ga does have a nice state park system, the only downside is that when you reserve you don't ever know, what site you will be in. You will have a site. But not a specified one

Looks like a lovely park. Were the biking trails off road? Any that had some challenge to them? Also I noticed from your pictures that you had plastic blocks under your jacks, I've been wondering if it is worth the trouble of putting them down first(under your jacks)?

Thanks,
Trudy

I agree, many of the parks used to let you reserve specific sites. I sort of have a beef with the current reservation system, which they turned over to a private contractor some years due to "cost savings". If you make reservations, they have gotten as strict as most hotels concerning cancellations or changes. Doesn't matter about the weather or if you are in a tent or whatever, they don't care.

yes all the trails are off road, lol at my age they all are a challenge,
but really most are easy to med.
and as the blocks, something I learned here is , the more blocks you have and the less the jacks are out, the more stable the trailer is, I have tested and it does make a diff.

Do you have a sense how busy this park gets during the summer?
Looks like great park and proximity to Savannah makes it a good find.
