Looks nice. I take it you have not had any issues because that bath room wall you mounted the thermostat on folds down? Did you just extend the wiring from the old thermostat? Any other advice for remounting a thermostat like you did?

The thermostat is low profile enough that it clears the bed when you slide it over the bathroom wall to close up the trailer. As for the install, yep I just added to the existing wires and drilled a hole up through the wall from the bottom with a drill bit extension and fished the wire on up through. Pretty straight forward really.
I'm happy enough with the results that if we bought another TM I'd do the mod again!

I installed the Hunter digital thermostat yesterday. It was a pretty easy modification. After shutting off the battery to the Elkmont:

1) Take cover off the old thermostat
2) Remove Red wire from top contact, White from bottom
3) Remove old thermostat with 2 screws
4) Install backing plate of Hunter thermostat on wall
5) Terminate White wire to "W" terminal, Red to "RH" terminal
6) Attach face plate to backing plate
7) Install 2 AA batteries
8) Turn trailer battery back on
9) Fire up the heater

Here are a couple of finished installation shots of the new thermostat:

I will report on how well the new thermostat regulates the heat once we use it camping.

I used the new thermostat this weekend and it performed flawlessly. I am very pleased with the tighter temperature control. The controller does cycle on / off more frequently, but that is not an issue for us.
