Default An off-road Trailmanor?

I really wish Trailmanor would come up with a model capable of going off-road.

This model is called the Kimberley Karavan:

...and apparently they licensed technology from this company to make it:

I like it.

They are made in Australia, but the Kimberley at least is not cheap....as far as I can tell, at least $35-$50k, but I think those prices are a few years old, and with the Aussie Dollar strengthening against the USD in that time, it is probably a bit higher.

Cool stuff. When we were is Oz some years ago, we saw several "camper caravans" made specifically for bouncing around the outback. None had nearly the luxury or amenities of the Kimberly, but times have changed. What they all had in common was enormous road clearance. They had big wheels fitted with huge tires, to raise the axle as high as possible, and the camper body was lifted 6 inches above that. The resulting high center of gravity gave me pause, but with some driving care, I bet it was a great experience.

Somewhere down under we also saw a huge German-built truck fitted out as a camper. It was tall enough that I wasn't sure it would fit under highway bridges. It had at least 3 feet (!) of road clearance, and looked like a huge multi-axle military vehicle. I wanted to take pictures, but didn't have my camera, so there are none.

The Kimberly looks pretty good - and pretty cheap, I'm sure, compared to those.

FWIW, we rented a Class C RV in Alice Springs for a couple weeks, but we stayed on the roads. Our kids were in their late teens, and loved it. If you get a chance, camp at Simpson's Gap. Amazing dark skies, dingos, and some decent scenery.

Those sound like some serious campers! We're planning a trip to Australia and hope to rent a camper for some of it.

When I was in Boy Scout Explore Post 808, it was a jeep club. The advisor had a small travel trailer. It was low enough that it could be parked in a garage in San Francisco.

I think it was called Lil Loafer.

He put skid plates on the bottom.

I have seen him drag it at times behind his Jeep CJ5 with both trailer tires off of the ground, just sliding along on the skid plates.

He did use a WD hitch, but no sway control.
