Default HarvestHosts: Hoffman Farms OR

Covid times have limited travel for many, especially for the winter. I came across this photo while making an agenda book for my wife and remembered that many camping experiences are traditional camp grounds or total boondocking in the wilderness.

This is a different mode of camping. Not a traditional campsite so no hookups, but not totally in the wilderness either. You can camp on wineries, golf courses, farms, even museums. This was Hoffman Farms in OR, just south of Portland. (Fortunately before the days of the protests!) We picked several pail fulls of berries which we had to eat before crossing the border back to Canada. So fun!

Larry, can more than one rig camp at these places? I camp with one or two other rigs/folks and I've been curious if this is an option that might be good for me and friends.

You sure can! If you look closely at my picture, there is a 2nd RV to the left.

It is assumed that you will be a customer at these places. IE, if you camp at a winery, you buy a bottle or 2 of wine, if you camp on a golf course, you play a round of golf, etc. I figure if I'm going to pay $50 for a campground, I'd rather get a bottle of wine, or a few buckets of berries. We stayed at a Lavender farm a couple of years ago and got lavender fudge. We discovered that we didn't like eating "flowers"! But it was a great experience just the same.

My wife actually doesn't like wine, but she actually found some wines that she liked at one of these places.

These are mostly private wineries, and often sell jams and other things made from the fruits, so there's probably something you could enjoy at each. If you happen to be there on your own, you could always buy a bottle for one of your friends.

Here's an evening shot from Harmony Wynlands:
