Talking Idea - dry ice in refrig

Has anyone ever considered using dry ice for the fridge during extended travel times on the road?

Check to see if plastic can take dry ice, don't think so

It would be wrapped in paper so no contact would be made with the plastic . I haven't tried this this .I just wanted to bounce this idea off you guys.

When I put dry ice into a cooler, it freezes everything in the cooler. If everything in your refrigerator was frozen, or could freeze without damage, you could do it. I think that is overkill, though.

If you are just trying to keep things cold for a 12-14 hour trip, and the refrigerator has been running (and is cold) prior to leaving, putting a half-gallon (plastic) bottle of ice, from a deep-freeze, should keep it cold. Deep-freezers are normally colder than refrigerator freezers.
