Default hensley hitch - is it needed?

we have been investigating getting a tm 2720sl for
a few months now.  we even visted the plant in tn
we checked on the internet for a trialer hitch and
found the website for hensley.  the testamonials
make it sound like your life is in danger if you
don't get this hitch, which is very expensive
we will be visiting 2 dealers this week-end.  do
you all feel we can get good info from the dealers
and does anyone hear have experience with hensley?
thanks
eileen and tom

I have a friend who has it for a standard TT and he loves it. He is also 77. He never used it for his TM, only after he got the big rig.

For a TM it is way over kill.

I have never had sway of any type and I only use a ball.

Holy cow.   A Hensley, for a TM? I can see it for an Airstream or a very large heavy TT, but I agree with Windbreaker, it's overkill on a TM.

I would recommend you use a WDH like an EQUALIZER or a REESE...

I have no experience with a Hensley, but I agree it is way overkill.

For most tow vehicles, you MUST have a weight distributing hitch (WDH). For most vehicles, you do NOT need sway control for a TM. I have a 10,000-pound-rated Reese hitch, which is overkill in itself. I have no sway control. I have never experienced any sway at all, in well over 10,000 miles of mixed high-speed highway and secondary road travel.

I'm with everybody else.  The arrow might be the best things since sliced bread, but I would doubt there would be much difference in the feel of towing with it on our lighter low profile units.

GrayGhost:

I agree with all the advice provided already.  A Hensley would be like killing ants with a howitzer.  No doubt it's a Cadillac of hitches, but if you're like me -- my budget more approaches Hyundai proportions.  Lot's of really good Weight Distributing hitches (Reese or Draw-Tite) out there that you can get for well under $400.  The Hensley would put you out thousands -- save the extra bucks and load up the old TM with other trinkets -- or BEER -- LOTS of BEER!!
