Default Toilet question: chemical to use

I found the recirculating toilet post but have a newbie question.

We bought a used TM and it came with a 32 oz bottle of "TST" RV toilet treatment by Camco.
It's directions say for recirculating toilet, use 2oz and follow toilet manufacturer's directions.

So I gather this equivalent to 8oz stuff that's noted in the manual 1 bottle of Thetford Aqua-Kem, and on the in the TM thread that mentioned CampaKem and OdorLos.

So assuming TST is the same type of stuff, should I use only 2 oz, or 8 oz when charging?

The 8oz bottles of AquaKem are pretty thick/concentrated. Can’t imagine only 2oz working to well unless it’s sludge...

I'd say it's pretty liquidy (not thick or viscous). But it also say "ultra concentrated".

Personally, I wouldn't use it at all. I like the AquaKem, and as it warns, you can't mix the two.

That being said, I think you will need 8 oz to do the trick.

I still use the Thetford Aqua-Kem in my SeaLand toilet. Also, I found it interesting that the 8oz bottles are the cheapest option per oz at Wal-Mart. You’re not paying for convenience vs the big bottles.

I've had good success with the Thetford Aqua-Kem, toss ins, ultra concentrates.

Package has 12 individual doses equal to 18oz total.

We also use the Aqua-Kem liquid, and are pleased with it. We buy the big bottles (gallon), and refill the small bottles (8 oz), which are quite handy to store and use. If we are stopping somewhere just overnight, we use half of an 8 oz bottle. If our stop will be any longer, we use a full 8 oz bottle, which works nicely right up to a full toilet. When we are leaving a campground, we empty the toilet, then add a couple tablespoons of Aqua-Kem and a pint or so of water to the toilet, and let it slosh around while we drive. Seems to work well for us.

Where do you get the gallon bottles? We buy the 32 oz bottles and refill the 8oz ones. Just a little cheaper.

We also use about 1/2 bottle for overnight stops.

Also, I fill and flush the tank when putting it away with a 1/2 bottle and about 3 gallons of water. Keep it smelling good.

Both Amazon and WalMart carry the gallon size bottles. Probably not much advantage over the half gallon, but I wold think better than a quart (32 oz).
