Default Rub marks, gouges on curb side rear exterior - HELP

Can someone give us advice? This is our new-to-us 2619. We did not notice these marks when we bought it, but after our first trip - and then having had it parked for a couple of weeks - we opened it today and found these curved gouges/marks on the curbside rear exterior. We are going to investigate and try to take corrective action, but does anyone have any input on cause or correction? What about the UHMW tape? Is it a bolt? The window frame is getting gouged in the first picture. Aluminum is starting to show through in two little spots in the second (farther rear picture) and the detaling/paint on the side is getting damaged in both spots. I am trying to upload pictures... one curve is going from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock and the other is farther back going from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock.

They all get the black marks which can generally be cleaned off but sometimes can start to rub the finish off. Cleaning the bag seals helps with that some. My TM is a 1996 so I don't know if you have the same hardwear as me but I got a big scratch to the left of the door on the rear shell that went through the striping design. I brought it to a dealership for a once over after buying from a private party. There are drop pins with a big finger loop (shaped like a "q") to secure the lower door at the hinges. They did not flatten those pins before closing and that finger loop dragged across the rear shell leaving a big arched scratch.
Not much help, I know, but that's my story.

Thanks Cheri.

Well we watched the video from the TM site to help locate the source. We identified the source as the inside of the top half of the door. Upon investigation we discovered a bent, nasty piece of metal behind the black door seal. The pic is out of focus, but you get the drift. Glad we discovered it quickly. We are also going to clean the seals, lube them, and apply some UHMW tape at the rub spot, just to be sure.

Glad you found the culprit. Wonder what caused the bend to begin with?

One way to lessen the marking is to:
1) Open the upper door and latch it open first when setting up the TM and
2) Close the upper door last when collapsing the TM.
Additionally, the factory has started using a white rubber seal at the bottom of the upper door. You may want to make this change to your TM. Get it shipped with a new mounting rail.

Thanks, Mike. I figured out about keeping the door open while closing, so we did that. I will probably order the seal later. Most of the marks clean off easily. Its the two minute dings, and the scratch through the blue stripe and paint that is irritating me now. I'm trying to figure out how to fix them.

Thanks again.
