That is very cool, I like that. I wish I had seen it before I bought the hitch as I think a receiver could easily be welded , probably how you did yours right at the tongue and then just slip in the bike rack secured with a pin or lock.

I might have to rethink this LOL thanks

Craigrrr,

Nice looking front bike rack setup. Is there a reason the shank is curved up so much? That puts the bikes quite high. My bike rack shank is straight and keeps the bikes as low as possible so as not to interfere with my field of vision.

eddugo's solution to carrying his bikes is nicely done. Just be aware you will have to remove the bikes and rack before you can open your slide. Normally that is not a big deal - unless you are making several one-night stops when traveling to your destination.

Thanks Dick,
The curve is just the way that bike rack was made by the factory , it works well when it is in the rear or when installed in the prius. gives it enough lift to keep from bottoming out all the time. The bikes in front is OK , I think I might lower the handlebars , as that is not a lot of trouble either and would not look so tall.

Sweet...many permutations for hauling bikes with TT.

The factory 150# receiver hitch on the back of the TM allows us to transfer the same "every day" bike rack from the back of the TM to the SUV receiver & transport/travel to and from a distant trailhead.
Front receiver hitch didn't appear to be easy solution on either of our SUV tow vehicles (bumper/grill/adaptive cruise control seeing eye sensor).

Multiple one night stops are a pain with my rack. I have to remove the bikes, 2 pins and one bolt to open the camper. One positive thing is that i can just put on the 1 1/4" to 2" adapter and plug the same rack into the back of my truck.

Now THAT is the cat's pajamas... I'd love some close up, more detailed pictures of your setup, eddugo! Any other details how you set that up?

I forr many years had a front bike rack that bolted around the front bumper. Never had any issues, except a lot of bugs on the bikes and at night there was a little glare coming off the bikes as the head light shined through them.

Is craigrr's setup not how the front rack would usually look? Those bikes are setting a lot higher than I had imagined... Still like eddugo's setup!

If I had a straight tube instead of the uplift bend it would be better, I am either going to do like eddugo has done, or look for a 2" tube to mount on my rack and to make it a straight shot it would then lower it all by 8" . Or get a different bike rack with a straight pipe
