Weight on roof?

Yes, if you put down a couple square feet of plywood to distribute your weight. Been there, done that.

Last time I had my trailer serviced at TM, they used something like this on the roof to walk on.

It was a 4x8 piece of relatively stiff foam board.

Not recommended. When I've needed to work on the roof, I like to place a sheet of plywood or 2"x4" x6ft to sit on to distribute my weight.

I weigh nearly 200 lbs, and I do it all the time. One thing I have learned from experience though, is this: if I'm on my hands and knees on the roof (doesn't matter whether it's up or down), my knees are prone to make dimples in the roof (too much weight in a concentrated area). I find that simply wearing knee pads prevents this.

Cool! I don't use that, but it would be relatively easy to do. And that stuff is super light so it moves around easily. We've got this same question/post in two different places right now, but I think we may not be answering the OP's question. Several answers talk about what to do in order to distribute weight when walking on the roof, but I think his concern is whether it's safe to do when the TM is in the up position, as opposed to having the shells closed. I've never had any issues with walking on the roof while my TM(s) were up, but I have no idea what TrailManor would say about the maximum allowable weight when doing so.

I was just working on the AC while up and other than being on a 3x4 foot piece of plastic to spread the weight, it felt quite stable.

In my case, the front shell was open and the TM guy was on the down back shell rehanging the fallen electrical wire back in the track. So, I cannot opine on whether to do it when open. However, I would observe the obvious. A 120 pound person would be less of an issue than one weighing over 250 pounds. So, if we have any personal experience perhaps we should share the weight of the person who did it?

I do want to also observe that getting on the back shell with the front shell open (or partially open) should give you all the access you would need to stuff you cannot get to on the front shell when it is closed. And it would give you access to the areas on the back shell that are covered when the front shell is closed. So, I wonder if there is ever a need to get on an open shell?
