Talking One month and it went well

We returned from a virgin one month trip. Nothing even slightly bad happened. Lost refrigerator for a one day, and the front pull out stopped working, makes a whirring sound but no movement. No big deal as there is 2" of snow on the ground and I am not going under it until it warms up. My guess is something came off the drive belt/chain.Getting it level for towing is the biggest problem. There is no level ground around here so I Eyeballed it, too low. 5000 miles and it was ok but could have been closer. What is the level hitch height on a 27/20 2012 model? BTW we love it perfect for 2 and doable for 4, plus a large dog. Everyone that saw it was intrigued to see it set up and closed. Now to clean the unit, how do you wash the roof? No water where on our land where we store it so a 55 gal barrel and a pump will be used. It is set up to irrigate my garden so no biggie.

Glad it was a great trip! Love the gawk factor of TMs.

I just set up a ladder and use a car-wash brush. You can dip it in a pail of soapy water, then scrub the roof (sides, too!). A bucket sloshed across the roof should get everything off. If you have 55 gal available, that should be more than enough for the job.

Good to hear, Mike. You'll find that most of your trips go like this, and they get even smoother as you get used to your rig. Keep the stories coming!

There is no magic number for hitch height, as it depends a bit on whether you have 14" or 15" tires, and more specifically, whether you have a lift. By 2012, I think all units did. Better just to use that calibrated eyeball to get close to level.

For mine, 19-20" works. Never really worried about level towing with a single axle.
