We travel 1st Class! My Tundra setup and TM are first class, IMHO. I'm not second class to anyone when camping. I understand where the OP is coming from though. The big resorts just feel like not the right place for a lightweight tow behind camper. Thousand Trails is a good example. My aunt and uncle have been members most of their adult life. We've visited them on occasion in the Palm Desert area of CA. As we drove down each aisle of RV's, we wondered out loud that these guys cost more than several times the cost of our brick and mortar home. Everything hi-tech including the kitchen sink...
I'm not a wasteful person by nature, but it seems we don't need all those extras to be comfy while camping. I guess if your living full time, maybe. I'd have to save all year to move the darn thing to the next state.
To each his own.. I'll continue to drag my TM around until I can't anymore and get up close to nature, streams, lakes, history, and a slow pace of life..

Tampajohn, I understand your point. However, I have to admit I too have felt that way, but I finally figured it out. I now realize that not all are looking down but some are really interested in how small, yet large our rigs are. Many times I have had an small group gather just to watch us take it down because they only saw a little of how we set it up. I was in Moab, Ut last September and several Class A owners actually wanted to see the inside. They were amazed at my 15.7 mpg overall on the trip. What all of them said was, 'I wish I could get mileage like that.'

There are resorts that actually put an age limit on Motor homes and campers, don't want no "Old Junk" to sully up the place. Obviously I never camped at these places. No matter where you go there are snobs and right beside them are the warmest, friendliest people you will meet. I met a guy that drives a custom made pusher that cost well over 2.5 MIL cause he spends a lot of time in it (or did when I met him but I think he has slowed down a lot). I met him at Sharon Speedway in Ohio (he loves car races) He was on his way to the shop that made his unit for an annual fix up. He was a terrific, warm, friendly man. Oh, his name was Willie Nelson. So just ignore the jerks and enjoy the majority of campers out there. Wish I could but as you know my TM will be on the market when I get back from the only state that does not have snow!

Tampajohn – I can relate to your remarks. Maybe it's only in some of high-tourist attraction areas, but wherever those monsters like to cluster, there can be some snobbishness. As you know, south Florida is one of those areas where there are private campgrounds that openly state that if you are not in a coach – don’t knock at the gate!
I don’t bother to knock. Although the campsites (I peeked) all have beautifully green grass and their interior roads are swept clean of any dirt, the coaches themselves are usually crammed in “cheek to jowl” and their diesel engines sing in harmony quartet competitions every morning. No thanks.
DW found a program on television last night that featured a bunch of million to multi-million dollar coaches and class A’s. Really spectacular, if 7-8 televisions and everything so shiny that one needs sunglasses when walking through on a sunny day, is what makes for good camping. A couple of these monsters measured in at over 50 feet in length – where do they find campsites – have they ever missed an entrance and had to make a u-turn back?? No thanks!
Personally, I think our 3326TM is the best of all possible ways to camp and kudo’s to the designers (along with a few modifications, of course).
Just to set the record straight, though, we have met some very nice big-coach owners along the way. One even lent me an extension cable in order to hook up my television. Nice people are nice in whatever they travel and they can’t help it if they have too much money to know what to do with it (jmho).

There are many despicable and dishonest ways to obtain a lot of money. An honorable man earns his reputation each day. Logman

I'm not sure what that means, especially as part of this discussion. Are you saying that people who have enough money to buy a million dollar motor home are despicable and dishonest?
I know a number of people who think I am rich because I can afford a $30,000 TrailManor and a vehicle to pull it with.
It's all in your perspective, I think, and despicability or dishonesty does not enter into it. At least I hope not.

You all are great. I guess I let my ego get ahead of common sense. I too have met a lot of nice people in the big rigs, but again I sense some look down on me with the TM. Just my gut instinct, but who knows. We went to Hemet, Ca and I think the name was Golden Valley Rv wanted to know what year we had and did it have any canvas. We found it on passportamerica and they agreed to let us come in. After some consideration, we cancelled our reservations. Decided I did not need the attitude. Yes we have found that in Florida also, but that is one reason we really like the state parks and also being of the older crowd, we get half price being residents. Anyway we see no plans on getting rid of our TM. We thought about an Elkmont, but as long as I can set up the TM, we will keep it. Heading to the factory in June to have a tune up. They are really nice people.
Another issue is I can do most of the upkeep myself. Last week I pulled the hubs to make sure the brakes were ok and packed the wheel bearings. I could not do that on a big rig. I just need to stay humble and realize my roots. DW and I discussed full timing, with kids all over the US, but she still wants brick to go home to and play tennis and bridge with her girls. I miss my friends also and we have a great life being able to travel when we want and have a home in Sun City Center, Florida. Just need to keep my eye on what is really important. Not other people perception. Thanks much for all your input. John

Remember, John - no one can make you feel bad about yourself, except you.
