Default Adjusting the lift mechanism

I'm a new member to this TM forum and have found great knowledge. I have already read a previous post about how to adjust the tension on the lift rods. My question is this procedure on all models or is it something new that TM is doing. My TM is an 80's model (86 I think) I'm not sure if my TM can be adjusted.

I don't think that the adjustment has changed very much since the TM's were invented. I have a 1997 model and have tweaked the torsion a bit and it's worked out fine for us. AFAIK, it's basic to the TM design.

If you have any pics of your 80's model TM it would be great to see them!

Welcome to the TM board and we look forward to hearing more of your TM adventures!

I've always found the factory to be very helpful if you should feel the need to call them.

I understand in the older TMs that the torsion bars were adjusted with shims instead of an adjustment screw.

I have a 1986 TM25, exactly like the one "Happytrails" http://members.aol.com/br768/ has on his site. We've been doing considerable repairs to ours but aren't done yet - I have pictures on a Shutterfly site if you're interested. Happytrails sent me a drawing from Ed at Trailmanor showing how to adjust the shims, although we haven't tried it yet. If you'd like I'll email it to you, let me know.
