Ref. Popbeavers idea. I thought about the same thing but be aware, at least in Colo. it is illegal to dump your holding tank in the state campground bathrooms (the chemicals from our tanks mess up the natural action in their holding tanks).

Does anyone know if there is a specific reason why the cu gas lines meander down the middle as opposed to being tied to the inside of the outside frame?
No, there is no reason. The gas line is soft copper, and is easily bent into a new path but don't allow it to crease or crimp! If it crimps, cut out the crimpled section (3 or 4 inches) and replace it. Don't try to uncrimp it. Fittings are available cheaply!

If you need to make a tight right-angle bend, you will need to cut the line and install a right-angle fitting. Again, cheap.

I've been wanting a tote for some time, but wanted to be able to put it out of site and out of mind until I needed it.

I had my TM down a Custom RV for a few things and spoke to them about building a custom rack.

I ended up with the Barker 15 Gallon Low Profile tote and had Custom RV build a rack similar to the spare tire rack. It releases to the street side of the TM and sits just behind the spare tire.

Just picked it up today....real happy with the way it turned out.

Real nice, MudDog. What prevents the tote from sliding forward & backward?

Dave,

The rack itself cradles the front, back and sides of the tote. If you look at the last picture you can kind of see the front and back cradle where the bungee is attached. In the second picture you can see a piece that cradles it on the street side.

The bungee is just used to keep the tote from sliding when you release the rack. When the rack is secured, the tote is snug between the rack cradle, the bottom of the TM and the frame.

I'll try to take another picture tomorrow with the tote removed.

Ah, I see now. Very nice. It looks solid from the pics, but obviously you've got a better view. Are you confident it will securely hold 150 lbs, as well as some shock force from running down the road?

Mud Dog -

That's really nice - just what I would expect from Custom RV. How far down below the frame does the rack/tote assemby hang down? Is it lower than the bottom of the spare tire? Just wondering about hitting it on a lumpy road.

I don't think I'd try storing it full...would probably tow the tote with the truck or put it in the truck bed (with the help of a person or two)

Bill - it tucks up real nice between the frame rails and hangs maybe an inch or so below the frame - the spare hangs a few inches lower so clearance and under-body drag shouldn't be an issue.

Did they actually make the rack or just modify a spare tire carrier? This is interesting & since we may be planning some state park trips we may need a tote our selves.
