Default Cover and Bowl Assembly

Has anyone replaced just the cover and bowl assembly for the Thetford (Part No. 9 on the parts list)? Cost? Difficult? Time to replace the Thetford with the Curve? My cover has a crack in it and when I flush, I see a small amount of the blue chemical at the crack.

I don't know about the cost, but the labor is absolutely minimal. A Phillips screwdriver to remove/replace 4 screws, and maybe 15 minutes of labor.

I replaced the cover and bowl assembly on my 3326 a couple years ago. Cost was about $180 plus S&H. Took about an hour and a half to replace and clean. Reason: water baffle was broken out of the water flush port and the blue water would swirl around the bowl and splash out over the front of the bowl when flushing.

New cost is about $225. See my thread on the Thetford Vinyl Skirt http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...ad.php?t=14538 The good news is that when you get your new cover/bowl, you will also get a new vinyl skirt (I think this must be what Mike is calling a "water baffle").

Nope. The baffle is a small tab that is molded into the top where the blue water enters the bowl. You can't see it but you can damage/break it by poking around in the water inlet. (I didn't do it, it was done for me before I bought the TM.) The baffle shapes the water flow for maximum flushing action.

Thanks, Mike. I didn't know about the baffle. I expect those probably have a low failure rate, and since it's actually a part of the bowl, you can't see it in the parts diagram. I can only imagine why somebody was sticking something in there!

Never too old to learn something new!
