Interior Paint

Has anyone painted the interior walls with success/longevity?
Anyone know what the wall is made of? Is it aluminum? If so, I know how to proceed. Spare me the UHMW suggestion.

"UHMW" ultra high molecular weight ? Not understanding that one ... lol

I have been looking around for solutions for painting the walls, seems the ones near the sink and above the cabinets are a fiberboard and the ones on the rest of the shell are painted aluminum. I have read others in the forum that have painted it using can spray paint (rustoleum) and it looked really good. I was mainly looking around because one spot along the ceiling above the front bed needs touchup. Good luck ... :-)

I painted the interior of mine.

The aluminum walls I used high gloss Rustoleum enamel (in a can, not spray paint).

The fiberboard/luan walls I used Glidden High Endurance Exterior in satin, might have been semi-gloss - don't remember.

It held up well last season, which was the first season I camped with it since painted. I painted it in the fall of 2016.

For me personally, I would not spray paint in an enclosed area because I can't stand wearing a filtration mask. I'm horrible at spray painting anyway. LOL

Thank you so much for replying. I did some spray and I sent my husband to hd to get the enamel. I was surprised to find out it is now water based. Much easier to work with. If there are any tips or tricks you want to pass on from you remodeling job I would be very happy to hear them.

Oh my - so sorry - for some reason I completely missed that you had replied.

I don't think I have any wiz-bang tips/tricks. I did a light sanding with an orbital sander, then used a damp cloth to wipe down the dust, and then painted. For the cabinets and walls, I didn't primer at all. But in the bathroom, I did primer the cabinets and the fiberboard walls. I realized by the time I got to the bathroom that since it was a more enclosed area, with a higher potential of high humidity, I primed - I used Zinsser 1-2-3.

It's just me and the dogs in my TM, so no one else to be rough (husband? kids?) on things. However, in hindsight, I probably should have primed the fiberboard walls. Mostly because I built wooden valance for all the windows, which I hang on Z-clips. If I miss the Z-clip, I usually cause a little scratch in the paint. It's hidden by the valance and/or curtains when they are up, but visible when I remove them. I think maybe if I would primed, perhaps it wouldn't scratch as easily? Otherwise, it is all holding up well.

I had a bad spot on the contact paper that was in the top right corner of our 2720sd, I then pulled off all the contact paper and found 1/4" plywood which the paper is glued to. I used 220 grit sand paper and an orbital sander and made wall very smooth , then primed with glidden gripper primer/sealer. then used Behr High gloss 100% acrylic tinted to a swiss coffee color.

the wall above the sink, I left the contact paper on, as it was not damaged but I wanted it to match that wall, so I used TSP, rinsed twice to make sure it was all off then repeated with same paint primer and then the high gloss. came out great. I am contemplating on painting the fold down bath wall, might just leave it alone.

Nice work. It takes time but it makes the camper experience richer. I’m just about done doing a remodel inside my 2619. I did paint the top half of the entire camper. On the kitchen walls, I scrapped off the wallpaper strip, sanded the area and used Grippon primer (2 coats with sanding) before painting. It came out great. On most of the other walls, I lightly sanded with orbital sander, before applying paint.
