Default Removing stove grade to clean underneath

Is there a way to remove the stove grade so you can clean the burners easier. I have not figured it out, and it is difficult to do a deep cleaning on the stove top.

You don't say what model you have and that may make a difference. On my 2003 I can popup the top part of the stove to access two spring clips that hold the grill on. I've heard of owners having to put something on top of the grill to keep it on during travle so obvioulsy there is a different way to attach the grill as well.

Check the last two photos in this link: http://www.trailmanorowners.com/foru...php?albumid=34

Should help if you have a Suburban oven/cook-top combination.

My '98 is similar but different. My stove top just lays in place. It doesn't have those 2 pivots (I wish it did). I have to lay a rug on top of the stove top or I might find it on the floor after traveling on a rough road. When the roof is down, the rug presses between the roof and stove top.

Our grill is held to the stove top with 4-clips, on the legs that protrude through the top, just like the ones in your picture. I just squeeze the clips and pull them off. After cleaning, the clips just push back on the legs. It really is easy....

I am not sure if this is what you are asking, but the problem we have is not with raising the entire stove cover. We do not seem to be able to lift the grate that the pots rest on. Food often gets between the grate and the stove top.

Any suggestions on how to lift the grate?

HMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! see post above......

Not sure how to make it clearer.....

The "legs" on the grate go through the stove top.......the clips are on the bottom side of the stove top. Just lift the grate/stove top assembly to get to the clips. Squeeze the prongs on the clips and pull them off......

Hi camptime,

I replaced the flat spring clips with hitch pins (see pic). The spring clips can be a bit of a challenge to remove but it's a one time event. Now cleaning the range top is a lot simpler.

All four of my corner clips have broken, so it is easy to remove the grate. But, I have to tie it down with a bungee cord while traveling. I like it that way.

I just removed the plate (for lack of a better term) by pushing very hard on the front against the spring in the back to release the front clips. The I can hinge it up and remove it.

I removed all three burners, one scree each, so that I could clean whatever it was that spilled underneath. That is the first time I have done that in 5 years.

While I had it open I tightened the four screws that attach the stove to the cabinet. The two on the left were protruding about 3/4 inch out. The two on the right were loose by just a little.

My apologies Wayne. I read your post too quickly and missed the reference to the grill/grate.

Thanks
