Default Hurricane Matthew

We evacuated and took the Trailmanor with us. We are currently in line since 8:30am waiting to cross the Palm Valley bridge. Our home is standing...but will live in Trailmanor probably for awhile. Will update when I can. A friend got to our property yesterday and took photos of at least three massive oak trees down some blocking both driveways to property. From what I have seen on news we are fortunate.

I'm very glad to hear that you are OK, or at least close to it. Keep us all posted. My wife and I have friends in Vero Beach that we haven't heard from yet. Hard to tell from news reports whether Vero was hit hard. Fingers crossed.

We spend a lot of time on the Outer Banks on Hatteras Island in the summer. Usually in August right before Hurricane season. We have seen pictures of Hwy 12 and get our groceries at the Food Lion. From what we have seen looks like the store has been flooded with at least 5 feet of water. Glad to hear you are safe. The Banks are our second home in the TM during the summer.

Florida in general was not hit hard - M never made landfall, from about West Palm north it ran up the coast with the eye about 25-30 miles offshore. Looked 40-50 miles offshore as it passed Vero.. Biggest issue was flooding along the coast when passing coincided with high tide.

Our home was fine our acreage a huge mess. We will be clearing fallen oak trees for a long time. We are thankful our home made it...there are a lot of condemned homes in our area though and not all of them are beach front. Since we are on a barrier island many homes had flooding. A lot had trees through the roof. We are currently on a road trip with our Manor.

Sorry to hear that. Seems to have cut a swath up the coast with the most damage east of the Intracoastal Waterway and north of Ft. Pierce. Some low areas also were flooded.

I apologise if my earlier posting sounded wrong, was just relieved not much happened here.

I agree, thankfully your home was not severely damaged. Only an extremely powerful storm could topple over oak trees, a direct strike on a house would be devastating.

I know this sounds crazy, but here in the central and western parts of GA we wish it would have pushed some rain further inland than it did.

We have barely had one drop of rain since late July and the temps are still reaching 90 every afternoon, almost the first of November. Soon time to start planning desert landscapes for the yard, just like the southwest.
