Organizing a SoCal rally?
Hey Wayne,
There are a number of us in Los Angeles area and San Diego area that would probably be interested in a mini rally.
There is a regional park that is exactly 60 miles between the two cities that has full hookups, a lake, fishing, and at a reasonable cost that would be a great place for a rally.
Check it out... Lake Skinner...just a few miles from Temecula. We have been there many times.

Count us in and if you, or any one else, would like help planning such an event (doesn't have to be lake Skinner) maybe we can help?
Any other ideas?
Jerry

We'd be up for Skinner some time. We have a house in Fallbrook and we've camped at Skinner a few times. It's just sorta dry & dirty.
Have you ever been to Guajome?

Our favorite down that way is Doheny State park

There was a small TM rally recently in NorCal, with 31 TMs as I recall. At least one TM came from San Diego.

Was it Shrimp Burrito that joined? I was eyeing the trip but it didn't work for us.
I like the idea of Doheny near the beach! I think there's one or two near San Onofre but I can't seem to find them (or spell it right haha)
Since all of these are through reserveamerica we might need to put this six months down the line. We just missed June dates.

I wanted to go to the rally in Petaluma, but couldn't make it, in part because of the long drive. A SoCal meet would be cool.
If we want to do a beach campground, I think it would be much better to plan for it to be sometime other than in the summer....or even temps warm enough for swimming/sunbathing. Otherwise, the beach campgrounds are a zoo.
The desert is a great time in the winter too....Joshua Tree National Park might be an option. Black Rock campground takes reservations this time of year, but there are no hookups. There is a dump station, however.

Joshua Tree might work. I like Anza Borrego more as a picturesque place. Early spring the wildflowers go into full bloom assuming we get rain. They are accessible by 2wd vehicle

We don't take the TM up the canyon though there's an RV park somewhere in town we've not tried. Upper Coyote Canyon requires skilled 4wd driving. There's hiking too so basically something for everyone.

Anza Borrego is a great place too. I haven't been there in several years, and would love to go back. But if there is a consensus that hookups are a must, both Anza Borrego and Joshua Tree are out.

If the rally were on the north side of SoCal, there is a chance that some TMers from central Cal might be able to make it.
I'm not sure what I mean by the north side of SoCal. But, as an example, Mojave is easier to get to from central CA than Palm Springs or San Diego. We had TMs in Petaluma from Reno, San Diego and Washington, to name a few.
Also, the reason the organizers picked the date they did was because it was off season and cheaper. So consider the end of Spring or beginning of Fall as a way to still have a lot of sun but keep the costs down. We had enough campers that we had exclusive use of the clubhouse for free. We did a pot luck dinner, etc.
