Why so few Used for Sale?

Hello all,
I'm a prospective buyer of a used Trailmanor. Probably a 2720 or 2922 model. Reading the forum I see it's best to not buy years 2014-2018 although I'd welcome feedback on that. However, there's very little stock available even nationwide for those years and very little for years 2019 through 2022 either. Is that normal? I'm looking on RVT.com and RVTrader.com.

Since I'm somewhat price sensitive, I went to this link to get a ballbark figure for expected pricing. https://www.jdpower.com/rvs/2022/used/trailmanor-manufacturing. That showed an average retail price of about $32k for the 2023 2720 with AC and awning and down to only $22k for the 2022 model of the same. Can these numbers be trusted? J.D. Power supposedly comes up with their numbers based on actual transactions but with a relatively small used market I suppose the numbers could be off.

Just looking for feedback from others which will help me gauge how old of a unit I should be looking for to fit my budget. Thanks much in advance.... Rob

There’s so little stock of the Nebraska years because they only put out a few units from 2015-2018. And there’s so little used stock of 2019-2023 because those are like brand new and people usually hang onto these campers. Gotta remember there was never a huge number of TMs built per year so it’s always been a rare find.

Thank you Shane for that. To answer my own question, I am finding a bit more used stock on Facebook Marketplace and on Craigslist although still relatively little between 2015 and 2022.

My question on how accurate JD Power pricing for used units I know is a difficult one because prices are constantly changing. Perhaps a better question would be: What would be a typical dealer discount below MSRP on a new one these days?

As for JDP, KB , or NADA they tend to be LOWER than actual used pricing. I honestly don’t even know what MSRP is these days but I was told a few years back that the dealers usually sell at a slight discount, but not anything huge. Maybe a few thousand dollars off MSRP.

I agree with Shane. The online sites are way below today's reality. RV prices in general have seen a huge rise recently, as people previously stranded by COVID have decided to get outdoors. That is part of why it is so hard to get a campsite these days.

Good luck

Bill

We have a 2015 2417KB bought in 2018. Our rig has not had any major issues, just loose bed tray handles and a burned out water heater element. So not all Nebraska builds are problematic.

We tried to buy a new one in Feb. 2015. The (Nebraska) factory was struggling to build one for us. In June we gave up on the new one when we found a 2007 model for sale near us. We had been considering driving from Seattle to Utah to buy a used one. Our 2007 is still going strong - love it. What Shane826 said is right on.
