TM currently installs something called a Jack antenna. It is a simple fixed device, doesn't raise, lower, or rotate. I don't like it as well as the old Winegard batwing, but it certainly isn't complicated. It appears that if you remove the batwing, you could install a Jack over the same hole in the roof, and connect it with the same cables.
Since you can't rotate it, it is omni-directional. The Jack company now offers a directional version which you rotate to emphasize your preferred station. It is more sensitive, but of course the rotation mechanism makes it more complicated than the omni-directionial version, and hence more prone to difficulties.

By the way, there is no such thing as a "digital antenna", as opposed to any other antenna. An antenna is an antenna, and the antenna doesn't care what kind of signal it is picking up. The addition of the word "digital" is an advertising trick to separate you from your money.
