I think you might look at vinyl sheet goods. Try looking at vinyl flooring in HD, Lowes, etc. I am not a fan of the bright 1-inch faux tiles that are so popular these days. But you can get patterns that look like muted big (4inch) tiles, wood-look or marble-look tiles or planks, woven/rattan-mat look .... There are dozens of choices, and your taste will guide the choice.
I think vinyl would solve your moisture problem, wouldn't it?
