Default On the lookout for a 3023/3124KB

Hi All!

Family of 5 with growing kids. While our smaller tent-frame pop up has served us well and given us many memories, we're looking to upgrade. We'd like to find a larger model that fits all 5 of us as our kids hit their teens, and maybe even a guest. 3124KB seem ideal but we can be flexible depending on what's available.

I remember hearing that after a certain year they moved from a wood frame to aluminum and it sounds like we'd prefer to steer more towards the aluminum and fiberglass frames to avoid wood-rot issues. Open to input and advice.

Located in southeast Wyoming but we're willing to travel depending on the situation. We'd like to stay under 15K.

You have a great community here and I must say that it's pretty nice being able to discuss maintenance, parts, technicals, and experiences with other owners of your same make/model of trailer.

Good morning -

I changed the model number in your title to avoid confusion. Just FYI, the first 2-digit number is always larger than the second 2-digit number by 7. Hence model number 2518, 2720, 3023, 3124, 3326, etc. It has to do with the open and closed lengths.

With 3 teens, yes, you will need space. When I was that age, my parents moved the sleeping quarters for my brother and me out of the camper and into the back of the HUGE Chevy Suburban tow vehicle. It was well set up with air mattresses, sleeping bags, dry and bug-free, and we enjoyed the privacy. Other camping families set up tents for the same purpose.

As you have heard, TrailManor changed the framing material of the shells from wood to aluminum, making the change over several years from about 2000 to 2003. A unit built within that time span could be either way - you need to check. Note that there is nothing wrong with wood framing in the shells, as long as it is still solid and dry. For 20 years, TM built campers with wooden shell frames, with very few problems. For an older camper you should check for rot, but the important thing is for owners to take note of leaks, and fix them promptly. Wood that is saturated and sits for a long time, will rot. As you would expect, wood that is temporarily wet, but dries quickly, seems to stay in good shape.

FYI, the outer frame of the floor is still wood, but rot seems to be rare in that area.

Good luck in your search.

Bill

Hi Bill,

I defer to your wisdom on the model numbers. Thanks for doing that!

We have considered another option, tents, an air mattress in our vehicle, etc. Anything to look out for during our search or when we go out to look at them?

Default Willing to Sell 2006 3023

Hi, I am willing to sell my 2006 3023. I live in Southern California and am willing to drive a bit to buyer. I recently (May 2024) took it out for 4 nights. Everything works, title in hand and ready to take out, several upgrades. I am looking for $11k for the Trailmanor. If you would like to know more about my Trailmanor contact me ([email protected]) and I will send pictures and a list of features.

2013 3124KB for sale NE Florida, $17,000

I just submitted the following ad in the for sale section, but it has not yet been reviewed and posted by moderation. It has been almost a week.

I am the 2nd owner. I bought it from a dealer in PA (it was a trade-in) in Jan. of 2020. It is clean and in perfect mechanical shape. It does have a few minor cosmetic flaws, which I will describe and include links to photos. This camper has many modifications and improvements. Most are standard, but some are almost certainly unique. Lessons learned from a 60 day road trip out west, which included some boondocking, motivated me to make some of the modifications. After listing the factory options and modifications, I will relate some other general info. I am selling because we decided to move in a different direction - we bought a half ton towable toy hauler.

Factory options:
- Atwood 3 burner gas stove/oven
- Suburban gas/electric 6 gal. water heater
- Suburban gas furnace
- Dometic Penguin II 13.5K BTU low profile A/C with heat strip (replaced 1/2020)
- Fiamma 12' F45S awning
- 5200 lb Dexter torsion axle
- King Jack HDTV antenna
- 40 gallon fresh water tank
- 40 gallon grey water tank
- two wall cabinets
- 100 watt solar panel with 30 amp Samlex controller
- 2 - 20lb propane tanks
- outside shower

Does not have a swing tongue.

"Standard" modifications:
- installed factory slide receiver hitch
- installed 4" lift kit
- installed fresh water fill port on bottom of camper
- removed recirculating toilet and installed Thetford cassette toilet
- installed LevelMatePro trailer leveling system
- installed water filter, pressure gauge, and pressure tank for fresh water tank
- replaced both bed mattresses with new natural latex. there are mattress covers on both.
- installed propane quick connect
- installed dehumidifier (pre-emptive move because we live in humid Florida)
- added additional length of hose to outside shower
- replaced plastic bed slide track on king bed with aluminum

Unique modifications:
- installed 120v exterior plug to separately power a Hott Rod water heater element. This allows you to turn the element on and off from the interior of the camper. This also keeps the load off of the 30 amp plug.
- doubled the refrigrator space. removed the 3cf Dometic 3 way refrigerator and replaced with a Maxximum 5.2cf under counter electric fridge and a Whytner 1.1cf freezer (sits on counter). When the shore power is disconnected, power is supplied through a 15 amp Xantrex automatic transfer switch and a Wagan Pureline 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter. I sealed off all exterior refrigerator vents.
- additional power supply details: inverter, fuse, and battery monitor is installed under the couch next to the fresh water tank. 2awg wire is run from the battery on trailer tongue to the Pureline inverter and from there to the camper inverter. A battery monitor/usage gauge and a remote switch for the inverter is mounted on the side of the counter. The current 12v battery is a brand new 75 mAh deep cycle marine battery. (Sorry, not giving up my two 100mAh Battle Born LiFePo batteries.) I installed a battery switch on the top of the battery box and another one at the camper inverter.
- I installed controls and a wall thermostat for the A/C. The control box attaches to the bottom of the A/C unit with 2 thumb screws and the t-stat attaches to the wall with velcro. Both must be removed before folding up the camper. It only takes a few minutes and is well worth the additional steps required. The A/C's in Trailmanors are loud! The wall thermostat also controls the heat strips, but you could rewire it to power the gas furnace.
- I removed the factory t-stat for the gas furnace and installed a Inkbird digital t-stat. The temp. sensor wire can be pulled out and placed at a different height than the controller.

Other:
- the tires are brand new Carlisle Radialtrail HD load range E
- good Maxxis spare
- I am including the following equipment: Anderson leveling system, 4 Anderson EZ Jack Blocks, 2 wheel chocks, 1 tongue jack block, stabilizer jack handle, awning tiedown equipment, additional step for ground due to 4" lift kit height, cover for when camper is closed, blackout covers for all roof vents and door window, Reflectix to go behind all window curtains. You can make it almost pitch black in the daytime and really helps the A/C when it is 108 degrees in Utah.
- I replaced the factory installed speakers with some JVC 2 way, but the refrigerator modification required me to remove the radio. I suggest installing a bluetooth amplifier in the space behind the fridge.
- the seals are in very good shape. I did damage a few inches of it by getting too close with a pressure washer, but I repaired it with rubber roof tape.
- one propane tank is full, one is nearly empty.
- the top of the hitch ball is approximately 26"
- I have the original owner's manual and all equipment documents
- all upholstery and factory mattress covers are in excellent shape. we kept fitted bed sheets on both couches and covers and sheets on the mattresses.
- cosmetic flaws: a small piece of laminate is missing on the front edge of the counter in front of the sink, there are several dings on the large cabinet that goes over the sink (from falling over while traveling), there is approx. 1 foot of corner molding missing from the exterior bathroom wall, there are stains and some pine gum spots on top of the rear roof shell, and there are a few stains and minor dings on the camper exterior walls.
- with some additional battery capacity, this camper is ready to boondock
- additional pictures, including the cosmetic flaws, and a high resolution video walkaround of the exterior can be downloaded here:
