First thing you want is the drop/raise hitch stinger to be the correct position. IE the trailer sitting level and the HL sitting level not connected to each other and the connection lining up. This is also the position you want to be tightening the WDH. Basically before you let the trailer weight down on to the vehicle. (Obviously with ball engaged already)

Consider how you are loading the trailer as well not to be adding a bunch of tongue weight.
