It shouldn't cause any harm
When welding on a vehicle, the usual concern is that the welder's current might damage the electronics in the vehicle, including the diagnostic computer's circuitry. I haven't heard of this occurring. A few years ago I did an extensive amount of welding on the underside of my pickup truck's frame without causing any damage to its electrical circuits or electronics. You should just make certain that you have an excellent ground connection and place the grounding clamp close to the site of welding. Some welders have taken the extra precaution of disconnecting the wires from the vehicle's battery.
