scrubjaysnest 2016 trip
The 2016 trip is starting to shape up. A lot of stops in old stand bys along the Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Dr are planned. From the looks of it after we leave Front Royal a stop along the C & O National Historic Park is in order. They have a few CG's that will take a 20 foot trailer. That's us, we've put the nest in 16 foot sites before with care. The Park has bike/hiking trails and guess we will have to do the boat ride thing on the canal. Of course we could take the "can you"

We will be hitting the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime this spring, and if you have any suggestions on good campgrounds, please let us know ...

Launch of the nest this morning, about 4 hours to High Falls SP in GA. Over night there and then get to drive through Atlanta in the rain tomorrow morniing it looks like. We will spend the weekend on Lake Alltoona at Victoria CG which is ACOE.
Don't remember what High Falls is like as it's been a long time. Victoria is nice and close to some very nice single track mountain bike trails.

High Falls CG
was nicer then we remembered. Mostly large sites not to close to each other. The few 50 amp sites they have really bad pull through's in open field camping conditions.
Left about 9:30 yesterday morning to get through downtown Atlanta and we survived. Took about two hours from camp site to camp site.
Not so someone on a crotch rocket, it looked like a crumpled beer can.
We have a nice site off by it self here at Victoria on lake Allatoona. Small camp fire this morning while the coffee was perking.

Cataloochee
Made it in without problems. Our first after noon saw two black bear, 7 turkeys, and a dozen elk. Two of the turkeys were displaying for a single hen; which was ignoring them.
Reefer not working right on gas, got a big mud dauber nest out of the flue but still not right. Will have to stop at North Mills River, a USFS CG outside of Ashville, NC where I can get parts if needed.

Heading to Curtis Creek, USFS CG about 50 miles north of Ashville on Monday.
Cleaned out the burner slots but will wait until we get home to order a replacement.
Broke the knuckle on one of the Fimmia awning legs but Camping World, use to be Todds RV and Marine, had a replacement it stock.
Much as we don't want to do it I-40 will be the best way for us to get to Curtis Creek. This will be a new CG for us as we have never stayed there. Drove through in 2011 and it looked good.
The Mt Pisgah CG isn't open yet and we had light snow flurries there yesterday.
